Work Permits
Children ages 12 through 17 are required to obtain a work permit
upon being hired by an employer. A work permit maybe obtained at Algoma City
Hall during normal business hours. To obtain a work permit the
following is required:

The child obtaining the permit must be present to sign a
form |
 |
One of the Following: Birth Certificate/Baptismal
Certificate/Drivers License
(A Temporary License is acceptable) |

Social Security Card (Copies will not be accepted) |
 |
Letter from employer stating what the child's job
responsibilities will be |
 |
$10.00 - If the employer does not provide the $10.00 up
front, the $10.00 will be
reimbursed on the first pay check |
**All children are required by law to have a work permit
BEFORE starting a new job!**

Voting Information

All Algoma City Residents vote at City Hall in the Council
Chambers |
 |
Polls are open from 7:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Election Day |
 |
To register to vote please complete the
Voter Registration
Application and return the completed form to City Hall before or on
Election Day. **Please note you will also have to provide proof of residency.
Any one of the following is accepted as proof of residency: a drivers license
with your current Algoma address, a Utility Bill with your name on the account
or a bank statement with your name on the account will work** |

To receive an absentee ballot please complete the
Absentee Ballot Application
and return the completed form to City Hall no later then 2 weeks before the
election |

Tax Collection
 |
Tax notices are sent to Algoma taxpayers' in mid-December
|
 |
First Installment/Full Payment/Special Assessment at due by
January 31st and need to be sent to Algoma City Hall.

Personal Property Taxes are also to be paid to the City by
January 31st.
|
 |
You may pay your taxes in person at City Hall during office
hours or after hours you may drop off your payment in the City Hall drop
box in the front hall. You may also mail your payment to City Hall (416 Fremont
St. Algoma, WI 54201)

The Second Installment is due by July 31st and is collected
by the Kewaunee County Treasurer. The City of Algoma DOES NOT collect the second
installment payment!

Ambulance Billing
Algoma ambulance billing is done by American Accounts and
Advisers. Bills will be sent to Medicare, Medical Assistance and Insurance Plans
if provided.
