bullet  BRUSH PICKUP Brush pickup is scheduled for the first and third Mondays of the month. Please arrange limbs and brush butt end facing the street. Call 487-2391 or 487-5203 to arrange for pickup. Drop-off location for branches and yard waste is behind City Street Department on Sunset Ave.

bulletFALL LEAF COLLECTION – The Street Department will begin collection of loose leaves the week of October 20 and will continue until around November 14, weather permitting. Leaves shall be raked into the gutter but not spread into the street. They shall not be in bags. Burning of leaves is prohibited. 

bulletDMV - Driver Examiners are at the American Legion Building located at 92 Clark Street in Algoma on the 1st, 2nd, & 4th Wednesdays of the Month from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  For Road Test Appointments call 888-368-9556 or on the web site at www.dot.wisconsin.gov/drivers/drivers/schedule.htm .  For all other Licensing call 800-924-3570. 

bulletFLAGS –  The City flag is now available in two sizes. The 3 x 5 is $50.00 and a small version in a 2 x 3 size is being offered for $40.00. Interested parties may stop at City Hall to purchase.

bulletSNOW REMOVAL – The owner, occupant or person in charge of buildings and lots or parcels of land where there are sidewalks, shall, within 24 hours after each snow fall remove the snow from the full length and width of sidewalk in front of such premises without notice. If such owner, occupant, agent or person in charge shall fail to remove the snow from such walk within such time the Public Works Department shall remove snow from such walk and shall report cost to the City Clerk and it will be billed out accordingly. If not paid it will go as a special charge against the property.

bullet GARBAGE PICKUP & RECYCLING – Pickup is every Monday and Tuesday. Monday pickup is anyone on Steele Street and north of Steele St and all of Fourth Street and east of Fourth Street.  Tuesday pickup is anyone south of Steele Street and west of Fourth Street.  Please make sure to have garbage out by 6:00 a.m.  Recycling is mandatory. Every property should have a green recycling bin or something similar. Garbage must be in a 30 gallon garbage bag with an Algoma sticker on it. The stickers are $1.25/sticker and can be purchased at Denny’s SuperValu Foods, Craig's Piggly Wiggly, Walter’s Do It Best Store, Graf’s Mobil Mart, Algoma BP Amoco, and City Hall. Maximum size garbage bag is 30 gallons. If your garbage or recycling is not picked up call Veolia Services at 1-800-279-1930.  We have flyers at City Hall on the Recycling Program or print up our Recycling Literature

bulletALGOMA'S CURRENT POPULATION - As of January 1, 2007 the population is 3370.

bulletWINTER – NO PARKINGOrdinance prohibits the parking of vehicles on all city streets between the hours of  2:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. during the period from and including November 1 through March 31 of each year.  You may call the Police Department for permission to park vehicles on the streets if necessary.
