CITY OF ALGOMA
2018 BRUSH PICKUP SCHEDULE
The 2018 Brush Pickup will begin on Monday, April 16th (weather permitting). Collections will continue on the first and third Monday of the month through November 19th. Please place the limbs and brush butt end facing the street along the curb edge, by 6:00 A.M. of the scheduled day. Residents are encouraged to call the Public Works office at 487-2391 and leave the address where the brush is piled. This will assist in providing a more efficient collection service.
Yard waste and tree stumps will not be picked up. Residents may haul brush and yard waste to the drop-off site behind the City Street Department, located at 1520 Jefferson Street. The drop-off site is on the east side of the lot, off Sunset Avenue. Processed mulch is also available at this location, free of charge.
The drop-off site is for residents of the city of Algoma. Non-residents dumping materials will be subject to a municipal ordinance violation fine.

Snow Removal
The owner, occupant or person in charge of buildings and lots or parcels of land where there are sidewalks, shall, within 48 hours after each snow fall remove the snow from the full length and width of the sidewalk in front of such premises without notice. If such owner, occupant or person in charge shall fail to remove the snow from the sidewalk within 48 hours the City will have a contractor remove the snow and the City will bill accordingly. Any unpaid snow removal bills will be added as a special assessment to that year's property tax bill.
BURNING OF LEAVES IN THE CITY OF ALGOMA IS PROHIBITED!

Yard Waste
City residents may dispose of yard waste in the compost pile behind the City Garage. Small pieces of concrete and stones can be dropped off, along with yard waste and brush.
Free processed mulch is available to residents.
Garbage Pick Up & Recycling
Rules and Guidelines for Using the new bins
Monday Pick Up - Anyone on Steele Street and North of Steele Street and some on Fourth Street.
Tuesday Pick Up - Anyone South of Steele Street and West of Fourth Street. The Business District is picked up on Tuesday to allow businesses time to put out garbage.
Garbage MUST BE curbside by 6:00 A.M. for pickup. Garbage routes can and do change for various
reasons, so be sure to have your garbage out by 6:00 A.M.
Recycling is mandatory and must be separate from your garbage.
