IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Closures and Precautions in Response to COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

Algoma, Wisconsin – The City of Algoma and several other public service entities within the community are taking precautions in order to help prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus (Coronavirus) in order to protect the welfare and public health of our community. Below are the precautions being taken by the City of Algoma, as well as other public service entities within the community.

Public Hearing Date Set for 2020 Budget

The Common Council will hold a public hearing for the 2020 Budget on Monday, December 2, 2019 at 6:00 p.m.

RFP for Engineering - Submittals Due 3:00 p.m. 11/22/19

The City of Algoma is currently requesting proposals (RFP) for municipal engineering services.  The deadline for submittals is 3pm on Friday, November 22, 2019.

Leaf Pickup Continues & Brush Pickup will Resume in Spring

Leaf pickup has begun and will continue as weather permits.  Brush pickup is complete and will resume April 6, 2020.


City of Algoma Residents: There will be NO spring cleanup this year.  City staff is currently working on a solution to address a cleanup in the future, however going forward there will be a charge for the cleanup and it is likely that the structure will be different.  It will no longer be a free service.  For your convenience, Riverview Transfer is operating at the former Kewaunee County Landfill site at E3726 Cty Road L, Kewaunee, WI 54216.  They are open Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Saturdays 8:00 a.m. to Noon.  Their phone number is 920-388-2223.


IMPORTANT GARBAGE & RECYCLING UPDATE! Effective June 2019, Advanced Disposal is removing the Monday garbage and recycling route. All residents of the City of Algoma will be on the Tuesday route. Both garbage and recycling will be picked up EVERY week. Containers must be placed at the curb by 6:00 a.m. Tuesday morning.
